FAQ

Q.  Why should Project 20/20 screen my child?

A.  Our screening can detect vision problems that may not be detected by other vision screening methods

Q. How does Project 20/20 vision screen my child?

A.
  • Our state-of-the-art Retinomax 2 detects refractive errors such as astigmatism and near/far sightedness.
  • We check visual acuity using either picture cards or a Snellen eye chart.
  • We measure the ability of the eyes to function together (binocular vision and depth perception), which is imperative to proper visual development

Q.  How is my child tested?

A.  The Retinomax 2 is a camera-like tool that measures your child's eyes without the use of eye drops in the child friendly and safe environment of his/her own school.

Q.  When will I receive the results?

A.  The results are given to the school director or principal immediately following the screening.

Q.  What does the result from the screening tell me?

A.  The results of this screening are pass or referral.

Q.  What do I do if my child receives a referral?

A.  A referral means that is it recommended that you take your child to an eye doctor for a comprehensive eye examination.

Q.  Is this screening covered by my health insurance?

A.  Unfortunately, at this time it is not.

Q.  What do I do if I lost my permission slip or need another to screen a sibling?

A.  Download the permission slip below, print it out and return it to your school.
